FOOT ORTHOTICS AND SUPPORTS
An 'orthotic' is a device designed to restore your natural foot function. Many 'biomechanical' (walking) complaints such as heel pain, knee pain, hip and lower back pain may be caused or irritated by poor foot function. Orthotics re-align the foot and ankle bones to their neutral position, thereby restoring natural foot function. In turn this helps alleviate problems in other parts of the body. In addition, orthotics give a more even weight distribution, taking pressure off sore spots and they provide shock absorption. Dr. Miller currently uses many different products for various foot and ankle conditions. This may include such supports as heel-lifts, arch supports, metatarsal pads, insoles, and other orthotic supports that may be necessary for your foot or ankle condition. Dr. Miller treats and rehabilitates many post-operative and other foot and ankle conditions. He can assess your need for insoles, custom orthotics, or other supportive devices. You will also be instructed on how to implement the orthotic support you require.
